Despite the fact that my back yard was a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and my furnace took a dump, I was pretty productive.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I got some old timbers for free as CDOT was replacing 60+ year old guard rails near the Mother Cabrini shrine. I got 28 of these things, bundled in a nice little package, to make the garden in my back yard. Here's my mockup:

I still need to till and level, and cut the beams to properly support the fence, but I think it'll end up being an aesthetically pleasing way to A: have a garden and B: reinforce the poorly constructed fence. Turns out, as you can see in the right-hand side of the picture, I had a lot of timbers left over. So I decided to freshen up the front yard a tad.

Again still a mockup; I need to dig out trenches to sink the timbers in a bit but definitely an improvement over the poorly installed plastic edging that was there before (left side in pic). The right side of my house had the same crappy edging, so I decided "fuck it, I'll do that too!"

Again have to trench it out and re-route my drain, but hell it already looks leagues better than it did before. I did all this in about 3 hours on Sunday, and have two timbers left to cut up and fill extra space. So how was your weekend, Oppo? Did you mend a thing?

I mended nothing, unless you count adjusting my FOV on iRacing and the mending that my body is doing to my broken femur. Still a pretty decent weekend though, thanks for asking. :) haha

My weekend was awesome. Team 1507 took home the gold medal at the Finger Lakes Regional, allied with Teams 20 and 378. Some of the most nail biting, heart palpitating matches I've ever seen in nearly 10 years of FIRST Robotics involvement.

Now we're on to Nationals in St. Louis!

It's amazing how much of a difference little things like timbers make in a yard.

We are (or actually am done now) cleaning up/fixing our house to put on the market. Saturday I finished up the pedestrian garage door by hanging the trim around it. Then moved some big items out of the house by selling them to my cousin (a 10" x 7" x 3" curio cabinet, the thing was a BEAST).

I also installed a new smoke detector. Then yesterday between grocery shopping and heading to my 2nd job, I filled in a gap and caulked around the outside of the pedestrian garage door.

Gray, then rainy, then soggy, then icy, and then snowy. The unfortunate weather kept me from doing most of what I love to do on the weekends. Didn't go to Cars and Coffee, and didn't go hiking. But I did get a lot done on that novel I've been working on since 2006.

I live in Original Thornton, behind the water towers at Thornton Parkway and Washington. My street is quiet and friendly. The street just behind the house, however, seems to be a hotspot for illegal activities. We're becoming increasingly worried about the area though; may be considering selling the house soon.

ah yeah up North it used to be hit or miss. I lived in Englewood, right off city park on 17th and Adams, down the street from the Bluebird, and in the Tech Center for a little bit. Englewood was sketch as all hell, I think my favorite was being right downtown. The crackheads on Colfax was about the only trouble

Good job man. That looks great.

We were kid free on Friday so we went out for dinner and drove around a little bit.

On Saturday and Sunday I spent a lot of time chopping ice. We had a ton of rain Sunday and I was concerned it was going to flood into the garage and basement.

On Sunday took the kids to the indoor playground and arcade. There was a racecar show going on. I'll post pics later.

Nice to see that the government didn't just waste the posts, and allowed them to be repurposed by citizens! The leg is coming along well, but I've got 7 more weeks of crutches and no driving. :( On the plus side, get to start work again this week (gonna work from home at first) and I can still drive in iRacing! :) haha

Got a few things done on my car this weekend. I changed out my power steering fluid and a couple of o-rings on the pump. What do you think, did it need it?

Working in Englewood right now has cemented the fact that I do not want to live there :) City of Thornton this year has been really aggressive about getting the original area (mine) cleaned up and working with the residents to make the place nicer. I hope they continue doing this, because the neighborhood can be really nice . If only the rental rate wasn't so high here, maybe there'd be more pride in ownership

yeah as far as I can see when all the tech companies packed up and bolted and the Denver population started falling, the rents almost anywhere never reflected value and dropped, they were still inflated from the boom. I liked Thornton the few times I was through. Englewood is always going to be an armpit though. It was the first place I lived on my own after I left my friends house in Aurora. I had a neighbor downstairs I used to have to knock out with a mag light every other week or so. He would come up with a knife high on meth and accuse me of sleeping with his (nasty) girlfriend. So I would smack him with the light and leave him passed out in front of my door. He would come apologize to me the next day and tell me how right I was. Then he would do it again in a few weeks. Ugh I do not miss those times

Oh Jesus, that's just not a good thing! I'd hate to have a neighbor like that. Most of my neighbors are [language barrier] or just don't seemingly give a shit that their yards are dead and their houses haven't been repainted in 20+ years

The nice thing is companies seem to be coming back to Denver. There's been an increase of startups opening primary or secondary offices downtown, and we may be looking at a bit of a tech renaissance again here. Seems they're realizing being pretty much in the center of the US is a good idea for business. I hope it continues.

I do too. I am still looking at making the big move this year at some point. Denver is always on my mind. I got offered 80K salary last year to go work for an old consultant I used to use, and I would assume that is still open. 80 wouldn't be a bad salary out there when I left, so I am assuming it could be still ok.

My weekend was spent fitting, then fitting, then fitting, drilling, removing, bolting, removing, drilling, fitting, bolting, lost 1 bolt of 4 (damnit) my seat in the Miata. 6'4" and trying to fit under the Boss Frog roll bar has been a challenge, but it's finally done. Well, mostly.

Nice! They are pretty heavy, ~100 lbs each. The dolly made it easer. Then again it didn't make it much easier because the tires are shot. Nothing like trying to roll on dirt and grass with two flat tires

I believe the beer is Cheboygan Red Sail. It was fantastic. I've been on an Amber kick lately and this was on the beer list at a restaurant we tried out for the first time yesterday.

I had 1 on draft, and wished it wasn't over lunch and it was a saturday instead of sunday so I could have continued to drink them all day.

Now I face the challenge of trying to find them in store...

As for the appliances, it hurts even more because we plan to list the house and move within the next few months. I've now replaced (when the new ones get delivered on thursday), the fridge, the washer, the dryer, the garbage disposal and the sump pump.

At least I saved some serious cash by installing the disposal and new pump myself.

No clue as up to now I've done nothing to it but play it. I do know I have the BenQ DVD drive, which seems to need either swapping the boards in the drive(with associate soldering) or reflashing the drive to be able to play it. From the research I've done online it seems that the worm gear motor in the drive is probably the culprit and a cleaning & greasing made it worse(I probably mis-aligned something).
